Urban furniture
1947
The first steps of a visionary
It all began in Saint-Augustin-des-Bois when Georges Mahot, a wheelwright and blacksmith by trade, founded his workshop. He crafted everyday tools such as wheelbarrows, cartwheels, racks, and horse platforms. With ingenuity, he transformed the chassis of a JMC truck to create his first tipping platform, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving industrial journey.
1980
A family legacy
His son, also named Georges, took over and expanded the workshop’s expertise in woodworking and cabinetmaking.
Under his leadership, the company diversified its activities, transitioning from domestic furniture to urban furniture and structural carpentry.
1999
A new horizon
Following Georges Mahot’s passing, Didier Trovalet, trained within the company, took the helm. With Pascale Fallay, the new sales manager, they propelled the workshop forward, positioning Ateliers Georges Mahot as a benchmark of excellence in urban furniture design.
